In October of 2008, RFC President Timothy Vowell along with Brenden Vowell and videographer Dan Lovett went to Zambia with two things on their agenda; to drill the water well needed to begin construction at Project Samuel and to record video footage for a special promotional DVD that will tell the story of Project Samuel.
Drilling at the Project Samuel site was not as easy as it sounds. Since October is the end of the dry season, water proved to be little difficult to locate. The first well drilled was declared a dry hole by Pastor Timothy because after 55 meters of drilling it barely produced mud.
The second hole however, was a success. The good water well is 85 meters deep and has more than 65 meters of water in it. With the new Mark V hand pump, we have more than enough water for the construction of Project Samuel.
In addition to drilling the well, the Team also hired local villagers to clear the property and begin site preparation for the first building. The villagers will cut unnecessary trees, dig out the stumps and roots, and level the ground where the Missions House will be located.
In producing the video of Project Samuel, videographer Dan Lovett wanted to capture a sense of what Project Samuel was all about. As you watch the footage of the well being drilled, you can actually see the fruit of our RFC partner's giving for this cause. It is great to be able to see what we have all been waiting so long to see. Our thanks goes out to Dan Lovett for his heart for orphans of Zambia and the mission of Relationships For Christ Ministries. Because of his efforts those of us unable to travel to Zambia can experience Project Samuel almost as if we were there.
