God is
doing a great work in Colombia. It has the fastest growing evangelical community in the western hemisphere. But amongst this bustling city is a population that is often overlooked, the orphan, with over 70 orphanages in Bogotá alone. These children are lonely and love starved and their hearts are open to Jesus Christ.
Bogotá, is the capital, and largest city, of Colombia. Bogotá is the most populous city in the country, with an estimated 7,304,384 inhabitants as of 2009. Bogotá and its metropolitan area, which includes municipalities such as Chía, Cota, Soacha, Cajicá and La Calera, had an estimated population of 8,566,926 in 2009.
In terms of land area, Bogotá is the largest city in Colombia, and one of the 
biggest of Latin America. It figures amongst the thirty largest cities of the world and it is the third-highest capital city in South America (after La Paz and Quito) at 2,625 metres (8,612 ft) above sea level. With its many universities and libraries, Bogotá has become known as “The Athens of South America”. Bogotá owns the largest moorland of the world, which is located in the Sumapaz Locality.
About the Missionaries
Funcacion Mundo Nuevoto works in the city of Bogota seeking to reach and rescue the children of this great city by giving them hope for a future in both life and in Christ. For years they have been steadily bringing the hope that is in Jesus Christ into the orphanages and they are excited about sharing this work with you.
The RFC Mission in Columbia
Relationships For Christ Ministries seeks to assist Funcacion Mundo Nuevo in their goal to minister the love of Jesus Christ to the forgotten children of Colombia through the gift of “presence” as we visit and love on the children and evangelism and discipleship through our local church partners. RFC seeks to minister 360 degrees: to the children and people of Colombia, to you as a missionary, and to those with whom you are connected in your local church body.
Activities and Accommodations
While in Bogota, Mission Possible teams will be staying in a local hotel in or around the city. Bogota is set in a high mountain p
lateau at 8500 ft. elevation with beautiful mountains surrounding the city. Teams will have the opportunity to evangelize and build lasting friendships with orphans of all ages as we play, do crafts, smile, laugh and share the message of Jesus with these beautiful children. There will be time set aside for some sightseeing and souvenir shopping in the nearby mountain villages.
