"I ain't got a dime but what I got is mine. I ain't rich but Lord I'm free." - George Strait
I don't even listen to country much anymore and I find myself singing this verse. There is something about just living in the now. Not continually worried about what tomorrow may bring... our future, our bills, our 5 year plan, our retirement... just living in the here and now with God. We miss so much that He intended for us when we don't. We miss dependence on Him, appreciation for His creation and daily gifts, and opportunities to love, serve and invest in other people. Though useful and even profitable in some regards, we weren't meant to spend the majority of our time dwelling in the past or worrying about a future that doesn't even exist yet. Christ took care of both! There is something utterly freeing about that truth.
"The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand." - Ps 37.23-24
"Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" - Matt 6.26
