I just returned from "movie day" with the young mothers. The mothers don't often get to go to activities outside of the home so we brought one to them! We have been bringing movies that we can reflect on and also the popcorn and sodas. The girls absolutely love it and have been very talkative in the reflections. So far we have watched Real Steel, Facing the Giants, and The Blindside.
Today as I walked home after watching The Blindside with them, I began to reflect on my "blindside". That is my past; the side that nobody sees anymore. Everyone has a past and often times they are surprising for the listeners but at the same time painful for the person sharing it. Regardless how surprising or how painful that past may be it is very important not to let that effect who you are. Yes it is easier said than done but Scripture says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV) Its very important for not only these young mothers and children of FMN to know this but its very important we remember this. My past wasn't the greatest but once I found Christ I allowed Him to wash that away and mold me into the man He intended for me to be: a man after His own heart willing to go to the ends of the earth for His glory. Needless to say I am super excited for Friday to come so we can reflect on the story of this movie. Many of these girls haven't come from the best situations. Most are between 14-17 with their first or second child and the fathers nowhere to be found. It is very important that they know God still has a purpose for their lives and this is part of it!
Saturday service has been great as well! We have a book that was given to us by a pastor here that we have been using. We are allowing the different groups to choose a subject they want to study and that week they make songs, skits, and different things related to the message of the story they chose. Then Oscar or myself finish with a message on the same story. The kids have put in loads of work on their performances and it has been such a good time, not only for the kids, but for us as well.
Thank you all for everything you do back home, allowing me to follow the Lord where ever He may lead me to glorify His kingdom!
